Unifor Founding Convention

Over 3,500 delegates of the former CAW and CEP Unions, and many guests and observers converged in Toronto over the Labour Day long weekend to participate in the Founding Convention of Unifor, Canada's newest union. Delegates unanimously supported Unifor's new national leadership team elected to their first three year terms: National President Jerry Dias, National Secretary Treasurer Peter Kennedy and Quebec Director Michel Ouimet. Our own Heather Grant, Secretary Treasurer of Unifor Council 4000, will serve as a member of the new Unifor National Executive Board as one of 11 Industry Council Representatives. Grant will serve as the Transportation Representative.
Unifor National Council 4000, formerly CAW National Council 4000, had delegates and observers from all five of its Regional Local Unions attend the historic convention.
